Can you get a Japanese student visa with a GED?
I don't have 12 years of formal schooling, but will the GED suffice for Japanese immigration in getting a student visa? I'm American.

Answer:
Yes if you are an American citizen and apply to a Japanese Language School you can probably get a student visa with GED. Normally the criteria are that you should have completed at least 12 years of school, but since GED is seen as an equivalent of American High School they would likely accept it, but it is up to each school to decide.
We have partner schools in Japan who could help you with this. Fill out our information request form if you want help.
