How soon before my study visa can I enter South Korea?
Hello,
I will be starting schooling in South Korea in June with a D-4 visa. I am a Canadian citizen. I was currious as to how long before my schooling start date can I enter the country without having to get a tourist or visitors visa? I was hoping to go around may 17th and my schooling starts early june. Do you know the estimated earliest date of entry they would allow? Thank you
Steph

Answer:
Before you can get your visa you will need to:
- Apply to and get accepted by Korean University
- Pay for the semesters that you want covered by your initial student visa
- Receive the visa documents from the school
- Apply for your visa at the Korean Embassy. This can be done at the earliest 90 days before your course starts.
- Get your visa from the Embassy. Once you have received the visa I think you can go to Korea right away unless they have given you a date for your earliest entry. Please double check this with the Korean Embassy.
As long as you have completed these steps on time it should not be any problem for you to go to Korea on May 17 since it is only a couple of weeks before your course starts.
