Babilonia - Italian language school
Looking for highly qualified language courses and a great stay in Sicily? Tired of learning only grammar rules and aiming to speak real Italian? Here we are! This is your school!
Why study at BABILONIA?
Founded in 1992, BABILONIA was the very first Italian language school in the South of Italy. We are located in Sicily, in a beautiful historical villa in the town center of Taormina, only 200 meter away from the breathtaking Greek Theatre and a few minutes away from the beaches and breathtaking Isola Bella.
In fact, on top of offering quality Italian language classes, our mission is to give lovers of the Italian language and culture the possibilty of getting to know the huge cultural heritage of Sicily! Did you know that Sicily has 8 UNESCO sites, 2 Nobel prizes for literature and an immense historical, archeological and artistic heritage that dates back more than 2,500 years? Studying Italian and discovering Sicily is the dream of many. Yours can now be real!
Our courses are accredited by the Italian Ministry of Education with "Presa d'Atto", by CSN in Sweden and BILDUNGSURLAUB in Germany.
The school is also a CELI and DILS Official Exam Center for the University for Foreigners of Perugia and an Official Training Center for ITALS Master Degree for the University "Ca Foscari" in Venice. BABILONIA is a member of IALC - International Association of Language Centers, ASILS - Associazione delle Scuole di Italiano come Lingua Seconda and EDUITALIA.
Dreaming of studying Italian in a more than accredited school, in a fantastic location, an historical little town close to the seaside? You’ve found it!
Our programs and courses
We offer a great variety of Italian language courses that can be topped with a great choice of extra programs like Cooking, Diving, Hiking, Eco-Tours, ect.
The aim of our language courses is "real life communication". Our goal is “to use the language” and not simply “to know how it is done”. We assume this is your goal too and for us this is what matters! Our communicative method will introduce you to authentic materials, by using the same media Italians use in their everyday life, “the Italian of Italians”, and this will allow you to acquire real language skills that will assist your living in Italy among Italians, instead of acquiring only a mere knowledge of grammar rules.
All our teachers are certified by the University for Foreigners of Perugia with the Certifications in Teaching Italian as a Foreign Language DILS II and other certifications in Didactics of Italian (DITALS, DILIT, ITALS). But their main quality is their caring, simpathy and friendliness. With them you will not feel in school; you will feel at home with a group of friends!
Our classes are multi-generational and multi-cultural. Students are aged from 18 to 80 years and share the same passion and curiosity for the Italian language and culture.
Here you will meet fellow lovers of the Italian language from all over the world from all over Europe and North America, from Japan and Russia, and South America too!
Our campus and town
Our courses of Italian and programs are held in a historical Villa named at “Casa Silva” located in the heart of Taormina, just 200 metres from the Greek Theatre.
“Casa Silva” is hidden from view by an impressive stone wall that separates it from the beautiful steps of Scalinata Timoleone and our students can enjoy 1.000 square meters of botanical garden. The Villa is an architectural, natural treasure that Taormina has miraculously managed to conserve. Both the Villa and the garden are protected by the Sovrintendenza alle Belle Arti (the National Agency for the preservation of Art and Monuments).
For those who live and study in Taormina, Taormina is synonymous with Dolce Vita. Attending an Italian course and, at the end of the lesson, enjoying the beach isn't it Dolce Vita? Attending a concert at the Greek Theater at night with the Bay of Naxos and Etna in the background isn't it Dolce Vita? Sampling the delicious Sicilian cuisine or sipping a cocktail in one of the many picturesque medieval streets or in one of the squares with breathtaking views of Taormina… Dolce Vita? And isn't it Dolce Vita to enroll in an Italian course in Paradise and simply only have to decide whether to go swimming or join an excursion to discover Sicily?
In other words, what you risk if you enroll in an Italian course in Taormina is not wanting to return home!
