Our range of exciting and immersive Study Abroad programmes provide an outstanding academic experience, a close-knit and welcoming community environment, and an unmissable opportunity to explore London, ranked by QS as the best student city in the world.

Our semester and year-long programmes allow you to become fully integrated in the incredibly diverse Roehampton community, which includes students from over 130 different countries. You will live and learn alongside students from the UK and the rest of the world, receive world-class teaching from academics at the cutting edge of their fields and participate in the vibrant social and cultural life of our incredible campus.

The semester or year-long option is also open to high-school leavers or first-year undergraduates through our Academic Gap Year programme. This scheme allows you to take first-year classes for academic credit while also experiencing life at a UK university.

Only have a few weeks? We also offer short-term programmes that allow you to experience the very best of London in a brief period of time. At our International Summer School, you can spend three or six weeks in intensive classes tailored specifically for Study Abroad students, while also having plenty of time to discover the city outside of lessons. Our January programme also allows you to spend two weeks studying in London, followed by one week of online learning after you return home in time for the new term.

All of our programmes provide academic credit, guaranteed on-campus housing and a dedicated Study Abroad team to assist you throughout your time at Roehampton. We will be in regular contact with you in the weeks before your arrival to make sure you have everything you need to prepare for your journey. We also provide a free airport pick-up service, an in-depth orientation programme and ongoing support throughout your time in London.

The best of both worlds: The campus and the city

A Study Abroad programme at Roehampton combines the sense of community, comfort and security that comes with a traditional campus environment with the excitement and variety of a major global city. Nestled in a peaceful, green and safe area of south-west London, our 54-acre parkland campus is a wonderful place to live and study while in London. When you are accepted by Roehampton, we guarantee you a spot in our on-campus accommodation, which includes your own single-occupancy bedroom and a fully-equipped kitchen to share with your flatmates.

Our campus services and facilities include 24-hour security, a range of food outlets, and onsite health and wellbeing support. You will also become a member of our Roehampton Students' Union and one of our four historic colleges, who work to make sure that campus is a fun, comfortable and safe environment for all students. We have over 50 clubs and societies on campus where you can meet other students and pursue new interests.

Beyond campus, the whole of London is yours to explore. In the area immediately around Roehampton, you might spend an evening in the lively restaurants and bars of Putney, grab a coffee and take a riverside walk through Richmond, or visit the home of the iconic tennis championships in Wimbledon. Further afield, the very heart of central London is just 30 minutes from campus. Gaze up at iconic landmarks like Tower Bridge and St Paul's Cathedral, visit any number of world-renowned galleries and museums (for free!) or catch a show in the famous West End theatre district.

You will never run out of things to do and see in London, but the Roehampton Abroad team are always happy to provide tips on where to go next. We also offer an optional social programme, which includes guides trips to fascinating locations within and outside London. As a global transport hub, London is also a great base for travelling around Europe.

Classes and subjects

These range from Business to Psychology, Computing to Criminology, Health and Nutrition to History and Politics, and much more. During the semester, you can select classes from any discipline and combine options from different subjects to suit your own interests. Most of your classes will be taken alongside UK and international students from our full-degree programmes, providing you with a chance to meet new people and develop new perspectives and approaches to learning. However, we have also developed a selection of London Studies classes that are designed specifically for Study Abroad students. They combine in-class teaching with field trips to areas of the city that relate to the topics covered in your lessons. This approach allows you to immerse yourself further into the life of the city and uncover fascinating details of London’s unique culture and history.

A similar approach is taken to our classes in the International Summer School. Alongside your intensive teaching schedule, you will also have the chance to explore the city on field trips led by your course instructor. This might include guided visits of London’s famous museums, walking tours of iconic neighbourhoods, or a performance at one of London’s many excellent theatres. All of our Summer School classes are worth either 10 or 20 UK credits, equivalent to a class you might take during the semester.

All of our teaching faculty at Roehampton are research-active, meaning that they are constantly bringing the latest developments and knowledge from their fields into the classroom for your benefit. To ensure you can succeed in your studies, our Academic Achievement team provide guidance and resources to help you transition to the UK system and reach your full potential in your assessments.
