Students at SGU can experience up to 4 countries
SGU students can begin their medical education in Grenada, the United Kingdom, or India. The three paths feature the same curriculum and provide a strong foundation for SGU’s future physicians. The last two years have the option of doing clinical rotations either in the US or the UK.
Thanks to an international partnership with Northumbria University, students can earn a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree and complete up to 50% of the MD in Newcastle upon Tyne, UK, along with preclinical studies for eligible students. In addition, in association with Ramaiah Group of Institutions, Bangalore, medical aspirants can start their journey to becoming a doctor in India.
With SGU’s network of over 75 affiliated hospitals and health centers in the US and UK, all eligible students will have the possibility to complete their clinical rotations in these two countries.

4-7 year pathways to a Doctor of Medicine Degree
St. George’s University School of Medicine has a four-year Doctor of Medicine degree program or offers five-, six-, and seven-year pathways to its Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree program and is committed to student success within an international academic environment with outstanding international student success rates. SGU has a 97% USMLE Step 1 pass rate for international first-time test takers over the last three years*.
So why do SGU students do so well on this essential test? The award-winning Department of Educational Services conducts more than 450 workshops a week to assist students in time management skills, test taking, and learning strategies, as well as subject-specific workshops.
The Office of Career Guidance and Student Development (OCG) also assists students in the Doctor of Medicine program to find their way through postgraduate medical training and licensure procedures effectively and successfully.
At SGU, you can start your medical school journey in August, September**, January, or April and applications remain open right up until a few weeks before the term. Entry points available for students from any education system around the world.
