Yale Young Global Scholars

YYGS is one of the most diverse, two-week academic summer programs in the world. Join us at Yale University this summer, and meet likeminded peers representing over 150 countries.

Explore cutting-edge topics in academia

This is a program for ambitious students aged 15 to 17. YYGS exposes students to innovative topics within their field of interest, while facilitating discussions informed by different global perspectives. At YYGS, students will:

  • Learn from accomplished Yale faculty and leading practitioners about the most important and relevant topics in their fields.

  • Dig deeper into lecture content by sharing knowledge, thinking critically, and posing questions with a small group of peers.

  • Pursue passions (or find new ones!) through 1000+ unique and exciting seminars offered each summer. These seminars are designed to facilitate learning  and critical thinking through discussion and lecture in small groups.

  • Foster relationships with peers around the world through sharing experiences, fun social activities, and deep reflections.

Students will have more opportunities to learn through simulations, Impact Panels, Capstone Projects, and Opportunities Across Yale resources.

Apply for need-based financial aid

YYGS is committed to educational access. Each summer, we award $3+ Million USD to students with demonstrated financial need. To be considered for financial aid or scholarships, applicants must complete the financial aid section of the YYGS admissions application.

"On behalf of our family, I cannot thank you enough for such an amazing summer program for not only my daughter but also those excellent high school students worldwide. YYGS has offered valuable opportunities to access academic knowledge and make new friends through multicultural interactions. Especially, our economic burden was alleviated thanks to your financial-aid program. Listening to her stories after the lesson, as a mother, I felt delighted. Above all, despite being an online session, YYGS has truly motivated my daughter to work harder and courageously pursue her bigger dreams." -Nam, YYGS Parent

Attend our program online or on-campus

YYGS hopes to host on-campus and online sessions for June & July 2022, and we are working closely with our colleagues across Yale to evaluate options. We will provide timely updates regarding 2022 session offerings on our website.

"Before the beginning of YYGS, I remember feeling nervous and questioned how the event would run. But, by day two, I realized that I didn’t need to worry. The YYGS program questioned things I thought I knew, scratched beyond the surface level, and helped me effectively communicate my ideas and opinions. I’ve grown with a community of inspiring students, dedicated staff, and passionate professors. Words couldn’t even begin to describe this experience, but I am beyond grateful.” - Janine, YYGS Participant, Ghana
