Is there any free music education for a young musician ?

Hello ! Maybe you can tell if it is possible to start studying in Sweden or other countries for a young musician from Ukraine to continue musical education in Sweden. The guy is 13 years old, takes part in various competitions, has many diplomas and wins in piano and solfegion competitions.

Are there any programs for foreigners in the direction of music in Sweden?

Thanks for the help ! Best Regards, Irina

Answer:

Thirteen years old is too young to study abroad for an extended period of time. Sweden don't have any music schools specifically for foreigners, so programs are usually taught in Swedish. For the first nine years in school all students have a similar schedule based on general education. It is not until high school at age 16 that you can choose to specialize in a subject like music. Younger students usually get their music education at independent music schools in the evenings. However, there are a few schools like Adolf Fredrik in Stockholm who has added music classes to their general curriculum for younger students. To study there is free if the student and his family move to Sweden and get a residence permit.
