Can I Study in Japan with the help of my friend?
Good Day! I would like to ask if it is possible, that my friend in Japan will help me to process and be my sponsor to study in Japan? Thank you so much. This site is very useful. Hope to answer my question. Thank you.Asked by: Larry, 2 years ago
Answer:
Thanks for your question! To my understanding, the Japanese Migration authorities only accept sponsors that are related to you. So for your student visa application, you would need to have the required amount of money in your bank account unless you have a relative who can act as a sponsor for you. If a friend will sponsor you he or she will have to transfer the necessary amount to your account before you apply for the student visa so you can apply as a self-sponsored student.
Once you are in Japan you can live with your friend and he or she can pay for your expenses if they want to do so, the sponsorship question is only relevant when it comes to the visa application.
